Daily grammar review

overview

Every morning upon arrival I have a paragraph on the board.

I use this paragraph to target skills currently being taught or to review previous skills.

objectives

The students will be able to identify a part of speech correctly in a timely fashion.

procedure

Example: Subject / Predicate

Write a paragraph on the board, ask students to underline the subject in red and the predicate in blue.

This can be used for any grammar lesson, ie., adjectives, nouns, verbs, pronouns.....

On Fridays, I use this as a quiz to see if the students have gained understanding of the particular skill we have targeted.

Very easy, and good handwriting practice.

closure

This activity helps students understand how a paragraph is formed, and also gives them the time to practice the skills being taught. We review the exercise on the board together after the students have completed the assignment.
