Dear Ann Flanders, I am a fourteen year old boy. I am a freshman student at Rivermoor High School. I've been at this new school for a little more than a semester. The first semester was awful. I had trouble making friends because everyone thinks I am a bookworm and a goody-two-shoes. It is true that I study hard. I want to get good grades because I want to earn a college scholarship in the future. Let me tell you why I have had such a miserable time. It started with our first homework assignment. Hearing about my previous high grades, my classmates began asking if they could look at my homework. I told them no. I had worked hard on the homework and I wasn't going to let them have it for free. Then came the first test. I'm certain the girl next to me copied the answers from my test. I got in trouble from the teacher because the two of us had the same answers. The teacher wouldn't believe my explanation. I had problems like this all semester. Then came the final straw. Our Physics teacher warned us that the final test would be extremely difficult. I studied my hardest for a week. After class the day before the exam, my classmate told me that someone had stolen the answers from the teacher. He wanted to know if I wanted a copy of the answers. I was so angry at him. He got angry at me in return and made fun of me in front of all my classmates. Finally the day of the test came. It was difficult, but I did my best. I was the last student to leave the room. You can imagine my shock when a week later my teacher posted the results. I had the lowest grade in the class! At first I wanted to tell the teacher, but then I remembered how he didn't believe me the first time. It makes me so mad that cheating is being rewarded. Ever since that time my classmates have avoided me. They call me goody-goody and laugh their heads off. What a pitiful life I lead at Rivermoor High. Help! Sincerely, Honest Abe Questions: 1.
