Health--Effects/Causes
Name: Dave Armour
Time Required: About 20 minutes
Area(s) of Emphasis: Conversation
Students' Level of English: Beginner Intermediate Advanced
Materials Needed: Each student needs a copy of the handout below.
Objective(s):
Use vocabulary words related to health.
Discuss Causes and Effects
Procedure:
Ask students in pairs or small groups to make a list of health problems. Then, have them think of some causes of the health problems.
Comments:
This gives students a chance to improve vocabulary by pooling what they know as a group.
Follow up activity:
Present each student with a picture of a person who looks as if he or she is sick or ailing (advertisements for medicine are a good source!). Have students write for ten minutes why they think the person looks the way he or she does.
