Hello, How do you avoid burnout? I am a beginning teacher.I have an elderly father I take care of, a house, and the like. My colleagues are telling me to expect to spend 12 to 15 hour days doing both work in the classroom and the paper work. Some of this work takes 6 or 7 days to do. One friend of mine informed me that once a teacher gets the knack for writing up lesson plans, it is easy. Furthermore, another colleague also stated that while it is true there are a lot of hours with the paper work, there is an art to doing it within an 8 to 10 hour a day frame: planning periods if they are present, those few moments of down time at the end of a class or during a test or an assignment or whatever. Is this realistic?
