If you're looking for really neat math, science and technology activities for your upper elementary kids, log on to www.spaceday.com. This year, Space Day is offering design challenges dealing with life in space. The site explains how you can register for the design challenges, gives background info on the pedagogy behind the activities, and has all sorts of useful links to help your kids come up with solutions to the challenges. The activities are inter-disciplinary and address math and science national standards. They are supported by the National Science Teachers Association, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, The National Association of Elementary School Principals, and the National Science Foundation to name a few.
